About You:

With legal working authority and at least five (5) years of professional experience in Canada, you are an electrical engineer with a natural talent for envisioning how robots can seamlessly integrate into diverse, unstructured environments, from the depths of the ocean to the edges of outer space. You are ready to bring five years or more of industry experience and join a dynamic product design team that turns visionary concepts into reality. Spiri Robotics is looking for a professionally designated Electrical Engineer who can bring their expertise and collaborative approach to help us shape the future of autonomous robotics.

Responsibilities:

Environment Integration: Utilize your astute observational skills to comprehend the technical and natural aspects, enabling autonomous robots to navigate effectively in challenging environments such as tunnels, in orbit, above forests, underwater, or any other intricate setting. Apply your expertise in electrical systems to ensure seamless integration and functionality in diverse scenarios.

Interdisciplinary Expertise: Harness your knowledge in analog and digital electrical systems, control theory, digital signal processing, sensor integration and related fields to contribute to the development of robots that excel in unstructured environments. Play a key role in designing battery packs and modular systems for common subsystems, allowing specialized robots to collaborate across various domains.

Innovative Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Mechanical Engineers and team supervisors to build hardware modules to integrate into robot - battery pack, smart battery to recharge upon robots' landing. Collaborate with mechanical engineers to design and implement a charging platform that can adhere to a power-over-ethernet protocol to handle data transfer and charge drones, including designing a magnetic connector to attach to drones. Work closely with the firmware team to ensure all design requirements are met.

Technical Excellence: Improve performance of battery pack resulting into faster swaps without requiring disassembly of drones. Improve the reliability and efficiency of charging stations that meet company requirements. Improve performance and reliability of USB ports and data transfer methods used.

Mentorship: Take a leadership role in building and inspiring teams to achieve excellence. Cultivate talent from university programs with a focus on advancing projects efficiently while fostering the growth of a reliable electrical engineering department. Share your electrical engineering expertise to guide and mentor team members in their professional development.

Innovation and Research: Research and implement methods of improving reliability of the logic-level shifter boards on drones, including finding the most cost and functionality efficient parts and sourcing suppliers.

Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of digital and analog electronics
• Strong hands-on experience working with low frequency electrical measurement instruments.
• Theoretical understanding of how digital signal processing works.
• Working knowledge of IEEE standards on risk mitigation and risk evaluation
• Working knowledge of how power lines of grids work
• Good understanding of how battery cells are manufactured, including battery chemistry knowledge and management systems, creating specifications for voltage and current requirements, thermal management, material selection, and charging systems.
• Experience working with packing battery cells to fit various shapes and volumes.
• Knowledge of how connectors and various types of ports work, including error margins and safety protocols
• Theoretical knowledge of how firmware is built.
• Willingness to collaborate closely with our Mechanical Engineering team, adapting to evolving project needs.
• Ability to obtain a Security Clearance.

Additional Ideal Qualifications:
At least two years' experience working for a medium or large company in a collaborative capacity with other technical teams and company stakeholders.
