Coastal Ecosystem Assessment

Overview
Freshwater and coastline littoral zones are home to a great variety of plant and animal life. These life forms rely on complex interdependencies, and most live exclusively in the littoral zone.

The balance of life in littoral zones disproportionately affects (and is affected by) human activity, including aquaculture, housing, infrastructure, and recreation.

These are naturally dynamic environments, with climate change and rising ocean water levels as exacerbating factors. Spiri provides autonomous systems and real time analysis to support the conservation of biodiversity and biotic integrity in these ecosystems that are so vital to human life and prosperity.

Team Surveys
Aerial platforms, towed bodies, and stationary smart sensors work in tandem to cover the area from the top of the splash zone to the bottom of the photic zone.

Treatment of Data
Because Spiri systems bring computation to the sensing environment, the data they gather is pre-tagged with metadata to facilitate downstream collation and analysis.

Real-Time Analysis
Data from Spiri coastal surveys flows as near to real time as network connectivity permits. This timely knowledge of the state of the coastal ecosystem supports positive environmental and economic outcomes.
